Mayo Hospital Lahore
Mayo Hospital is one of the oldest and biggest hospital in subcontinent. King Edward Medical University is the attached university which is Pakistan’s second most prestigious and subcontinent’s second oldest institution. The present famous Mayo Hospital building was completed in 1870. It was opened in 1871 and was named after the Earl of Mayo, the then Viceroy. In October, 1871 Earl of Mayo, Viceroy of India visited the Hospital and in memory of his visit the Hospital was named as Mayo Hospital.The hospital building was completed in 1870 and it started functioning in 1871.
Punjab Institute of Cardiology
is a 292 bedded tertiary care hospital providing nationwide comprehensive cardiac care services for the last 18 years. It was inaugurated on 15.10.1988. In patient was commisioned on 5.10.1990. The first open heart surgery was performed on 9.10.1990. It’s services include cardiac emergency, OPD, diagnostics, interventional & invasive cardiology and cardiac surgery. Fully equipped cardiac ambulatory services are also available round the clock. More than 1,60,000 patients are examined annually at OPD. More than 20,000 are admitted. PIC is the largest cardiac center in Pakistan with 24,000 echocardiographies, 4000 nuclear medicine procedures, 13,000 angiographies, 3500 angioplasties including 5000 stents and more than 1800 cardiac surgeries per annum.
